There are a number of structures that can cause referred pain to the shoulder Patsy, and Gastrointestinal disorders are common ones

If not is is important you get the pain checked out.
Try to note if the pain is made worse by eating any particular food or if there is any other thing that influences it like time of day or movement.

The symptoms you describe could be caused by a number of medical conditions including problems with the gallbladder which I have experienced. I had pain in the upper right abdomen under my ribs which extended up into my shoulder. I also felt very nauseous.

If possible I would try to avoid eating sugary or fatty foods and certainly no alcohol until you get this checked out.

I hope you feel better soon
Hi

I am trying to get an appointment soon. I know that both my mother and grandmother had their gallbladders removed.

Mary, never seek medical advice on a forum as there are no folk to diagnose your ailment as we ordinary folk aren't qualified to help you. See your doctor, chuck!

That is good advice Mollie.

Some of us are qualified but would never be so foolish as to attempt a diagnosis online.

Hi Mary that is wise.

I appreciate in some parts of the world easy access to a Doctor isn't always possible and it can help to chat informally to people on forums who can at lease support you until you can get medical assistance.

Re: Bad abdominal pains

Sounds like gallbladder symptoms to me...BUT since I am NOT a doctor it's best you see a doctor for a definitive diagnosis, which I see is what you are trying to do.

Gallbladder removal is now done laparoscopically and not the big surgery it used to be. Many times patients go home the same day.. Hope you get an answer and relief soon.

There is nothing wrong with saying what it sounds like... so long as it's made known it's a guess and not a diagnosis. AND those symptoms DO sound like cholecystitis.. BUT of course that can only be determined by an MD after the proper testing.

Re: Bad abdominal pains

Agree with Audrey - sounds like gallbladder/stones.

This is an interesting write-up on gallstones: http://www.karenhurd.com/pages/healt...erdisease.html I tried it a while back and I think it helped.

Liver flushes are frowned upon in the medical community, but, they are one of the few things that I feel have helped me quite a bit.

I am one of those people who likes to try things for myself and see whether it helps me personally - particularly if it sounds plausible and not risky. Because my diet is very controlled, I can more easily determine if anything new in my routine helps or not.

I don't believe anyone has said it's not ok to ask questions have they?
