Re: Bin or Bean

At one time I would have said 'Ouvya bin' or wherevya bin (East End cockney flower seller that I was) but now I speak like the Queen of England and sometimes wave a little flag.

Re: Bin or Bean

Coming from Shropshire but living in London for so many years, even now I still get weird looks from family when I pronounce words such as butter as bu-hher and water as whaah-er.
It's doesn't help that HWMO being a Londoner, pronounces them exactly the same, making it difficult to stop.

Re: Bin or Bean

Took me a long time to say water instead of waa er and to pronounce the tts in butter. But once learned I seem to have kept it all my life since. I always find it funny when I have travelled round the country how many people think I am posh, they can't believe I am just talking how everyone round here does. Or used to do I should say as it's far more likely to hear a polish accent these days than an English one.
