Dont think they were where they thought they were , weren't they supposed to be buried in burma ? I dont think the story of so many spitfires buried was true

Re: 200 Spitfires

I can remember reading about this a year or so ago. They thought that 28 brand-new Spitfires, still crated up, were buried at the end of a runway in Burma at the end of WW2.

As you mentioned, this sort of fizzled out, and I suppose the searchers ran out of money.

Mind you, with serviceable Spitfires now fetching over a million pounds each, it could be very profitable for somebody should they ever find them.

They have all been assembled by flying ants. Don't believe me? just look at the mole hills around where they dropped minature bombs. Surely you need no more proof than that.

Re: 200 Spitfires

I remember reading that they were never there. It was said that all the spitfires were accounted for.
