I was just wondering how we would have done against Germany in the second world war if all our tanks and trucks had been converted to electric?
And what happens to our army of the future when diesels are banned?

A "charge" would have had a different meaning, back then!

With a tank, you might need charging points every 20 yards, or a very long cable.

I guess that there might be a new solar receiver, fitted to the roof, once the oil barons allow it to be invented.

There would be a special artillery battery.

The World can probably process or handle a certain amount of air pollution. Military vehicles running on diesel might not pollute the air more than can be coped with. The problem of air pollution seems to have come about with the huge number of domestic vehicles that has built up year on year.

There would likely be vehicles with generators to charge the batteries (running on diesel ).

Tank crews would have to call for the light of the charge brigade.

Return our defence forces to defend our borders and destroy the fifth columnists that have established colonies. Forget tanks and the like. Forget getting drawn into American adventures in other peoples countries by us getting out of NATO.

Instead let's become the creator of refugees fleeing from OUR country seeking asylum elsewhere.

It’s all change mate..sea and air power now, all being deployed to the Far East..tanks and big guns being binned for cyber..we even have a new Regiment 13 Signal Regiment devoted entirely to Cyber Warfare..geeks rule ok

The two sides would play football until the power comes back on and the Battery is recharged and the Assault can then place (assault & battery?)

Joking apart, you have just hit the nail squarely on it's head. There is now an experimental train running on hydrogen to produce the electricity for traction etc, so it wont be long before we see the commercially available production of hydrogen fuelled electric traction.
