Wax Melts

Has anyone on here made their own?

If so, how do you do it?

Wax melts I meant.

Re: Wax Melts

I haven't tried it, but I wonder if melting a candle, adding fragrance oil and letting it cool in a little container, would work? Obviously a dish that can stand heat if you plan to use a candle under it. I remember I did spill one onto the floor by accident because I picked it up when it was hot (bad idea, don't do that!) Took 4 days to clean up

It’s made of fragranced wax ,with no wick, you but it in a wax burner ,with a t, light underneath, which in turn melts the wax, filling the room with fragrance.

Lethal if you spill wax, I have been following a woman on YouTube who has been making them, sounds like a roaring business ,she’s always sold out ,every time i view her channel, she’s got an Etsy shop and sells them on there.

What’s a Etsy shop?...obviously it’s online...I wonder how it’s set up?.

Its very easy, Pauline. I'm afraid to explain it further in case I get into Mod-Bother but if you go to the site, its very straightforward. It costs pennies to post pics of stuff you want to sell. Shipping is a hassle now due to Brexit rules. I used to have one years ago, but once it became less about handmade items, and more about factory produced goods, I closed it.

Re: Wax Melts

You can buy these in loads of 'gift shop' sort of places, and even some garden centres. Usually anywhere that sells 'Yankee Candles' sell the wax tarts.

I used to pop them in the top of my little oil burner and then light a tea light. Some smells are too sweet and sickly for me though.

Nowadays I tend to use a few drops of essential oils in a little water and burn that instead, but be very careful as the fumes from some oils are harmful to pets like dogs/cats/birds.

I have never made my own wax ones, I just use the real oils instead.

Sounds interesting, thanks, Pixie, have you seen some of these Youtubers, they make a fair old amount of money out of it,..plus they get free gifts from some companies to advertise their products...I love watching YouTube, some funny characters on there I tell ya!....look up Nikki Clifford ,she’s an absolute nut case ,in a nice way, has me in stitches, she’s a crafter, beautiful displays of flowers she does.

Have you tried the electric diffusers,Mups, a few drops of essential oil ,then some water?

I’ll post a pic of mine later, to show you.
