The accord has been in provisional effect since 1 January, so ratification changes nothing.
Had the agreement not passed, the UK and EU’s terms of trade would have degraded even further – with tariffs and quotas applicable on goods.

A resolution passed alongside the agreement by MEP said Britain’s exit from the EU was a “historic mistake” as no country could enjoy the same benefits outside the EU as inside.

But as European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen said, she “warmly” welcomed the deal’s approval, adding: "The trade and cooperation agreement (TCA) marks the foundation of a strong and close partnership with the UK.

In short, the UK has been tied to the EU again, for years to come!

Speaking after the vote, Boris Johnson claimed the deal’s approval was the “final step” in Brexit road, though in fact his government is still locked in negotiations over Northern Ireland.

It is all down to us now.
By ratifying the Brexit deal, EU is now able to hold the UK to account in an international court of law for any infringement.

Re: EU ratification !

Oh look!
What did I say earlier?
And up pops Solly with not one but three attempts, all in this very thread too!

"I suspect however that the disaffected EUrophiles who frequent this place will continue to try and sow division with their obfuscation in this part of the forum for a while yet, sadly.
They have nothing left to offer and seem not to be able to spend their time more productively encouraging improvement within their beloved EU, even though by all appearances that seems far more necessary.
"
And so it came to pass ..............

No.
Your link refers to one area only which is subsidies but the deal covers far more than that one subject.

In case of "complications" there will, as part of the agreement, be a new dispute resolution body consisting of equal representation together with an independent arbitrator holding the balance of power so that it stays politically neutral, supposedly.

Indeed zappy! And therein lies the importance of the lugano convention (separate thread on this subject)

From your link:
There is no role for the CJEU in TCA dispute settlement. TCA provisions will be interpreted in line with*customary international law.

The*Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties*enumerates the cases in which an international convention is terminated. A unilateral denunciation is not among them. Absent an impossibility of performance, a fundamental change of circumstances or a breach by one party, an agreement by the parties is required to suspend the operation of a treaty.

Since the Brussels Convention bound the UK to no less than 14 EU Member States, it may take some time and effort to reach agreement that the Brussels Convention is all over. The mere information of the European Council by the British government is certainly not sufficient. Of course, the EU and the UK could also enter into a new treaty. The British government has lodged an*application*to join the Lugano Convention, but it is still awaiting an answer from the EU.

Why do you persist in writing swathes of useless information that any competent and interested reader can already freely access?

You're not giving us anything new.
You're just wasting space.
Which pretty much sums up the entire EU, by happy coincidence.
