Smashed Wing Mirror.

Hi

Moved my car onto the road so the skip could be picked up.

They didn't come to collect it but my nearside wing mirror has been smashed.

It is electric, heated and not cheap.

I am not happy.

Ouch! I should think you certainly far from happy! Presumably the whole assembly is knackered and you ain't kidding about the price for replacement. Thought about checking out car breakers? For the cost of a few phone calls and a bit of googling you might well save many £'s.

EBay is usually pretty good. Cost of an electric mirror was about 330 from main dealer, but 60 from eBay. Full assembly included, and I had to pay an extra 30 for the correct coloured plastic cowl.

30 mins to fit myself, and that was taking it easy.

They can usually be reassembled with new parts if the electrics is still functioning. Amazon are pretty good for parts. A bit like a 3 d jigsaw puzzle. I would love a heated one. So annoying when they steam up.

I am assuming that it is the whole mirror and not just the glass which can be bought cheaply on amazon.

Certainly true on eBay.

Yes, it could have been Ebay where I got mine. It was my first week living in Devon when mine got smashed but I have learnt to tuck them in on narrow roads now.

On my car the wing mirrors fold flat to the body when the ignition is turned off.

Yep. Think that this should be standard on new cars nowadays.
