American barbeque

Summer is here and it's time to BBQ some pork, beef, chicken and sausages.

The key to great BBQ is LOW AND SLOW WITH LOTS OF SMOKE. INDIRECT HEAT !!!

Culinary heaven on Earth is a real American barbeque.

Some of that food looks nice, some not. The problem I found with all American food was that the portions were far too large resulting in too much waste.

It is traditional in America to eat as much as you like, and then ask for a "doggie bag". Customer takes it home and has a 2nd meal later that day or the next. Thus no waste.
Below is a photo of BBQ pork rib rack. Maybe 25-30 % of that are rib bones.

Am I the only person on the planet who finds the sight, the smell and the taste of Barbecued food completely loathsome?

Bakerman, I have been to many BBQs in my time, last weekend being the last, and I have never seen that much on anyone's plate at one time! In Texas, everything is done bigger!!

It's all a matter of what we grow up with. However, I have never met or even heard of anyone who doesn't love BBQ.

Of course there are some vegetarians but they are not within my circle.

I feel the same way about mushy peas. The very thought of putting mushy peas in my mouth, makes my stomach turn.

I completely agree with you about that one! They are horrid.

Ha Ha That's funny.

Tabby, Do you feel the same way about charcoal broiled steak ? Or, is it just the smoky flavor you find objectionable ?
Have you ever had real BBQ IN AMERICA ? BBQ in Europe may be an entirely different thing.

PS: The type/species of wood used can DRAMATICALLY change the flavor and smell. I, personally, do not care for mesquite wood. I prefer hickory or apple wood.
