Re: Strange Plant - can you help identify?

Just wonder if it is a weed that has seeded itself in your garden.....

Can't really be anything else. Unless it came from a seed from the bird feeder - we are growing wheat, barley, rye and all sorts this year dropped by the birds! Did wonder about castor oil plant, but that's not right either.

I am sure it has a "foreign" origin. I am not sure where wild bird food seed comes from.

You could be right Angie, I also get some weird plants from scattered bird seed...

Re: Strange Plant - can you help identify?

Good point! I've had wheat (or something that looked like it) and corn growing from seeds around the bird feeder. Most of the vines from large tubers I've located mainly grow in tropical/subtropical climates and wouldn't overwinter. But if that thing grew from a seed is it likely it would have produced such a huge tuber in just this growing season ...?????
