Re: Odd or funny street names

We have areas here...especially new subdivisions. They will have an area, that is all "fruits" and another area that will have names of the "trees", "birds" is another one that has some pretty names.

Re: Odd or funny street names

In Wincanton there is an area that has all the street names something to do with Terry Pratchett books.

Sir Terry Pratchett’s suggested road names:
1. Mollymog Street

2. Moon Pond Lane

3. Cable Street

4. Shamlegger Street

5. Peach Pie Street

6. Treacle Mine Road

7. Hen and Chickens Field

8. Lobbin Clout

9. Scoone Avenue

10. Tenth Egg Street

11. Kicklebury Street

12. Morpork Street

13. Ankh Street

14. The Ridings

Wincanton is unique as it is twinned with the fictional town of Ankh-Morpork as well as Les Rosiers in France and Lahnau in Germany.

There was a vote & in the end only Treacle Mine road & Peach Pie road were used, shame as some of the others were good too.

The streets where I live are all named after hills - Pentland, Hambleton, Cleveland etc.,

Re: Odd or funny street names

Not here but my in-laws once lived in Pratt Street, Camden, London NW1. It used to make me smile every time I walked past the street sign.

When we moved into a new subdivision in the seventies, in North Oshawa, Ontario...the new roads were all named after places in Florida...ours was called "Palmetto Drive."
