I am sorry I forgot to reply to the posts.
He has apologized but still drinking, I hope it doesn't happen again. This year has not been good.

EDIT: Actually, I can swear in German and Dutch, though I know no English swear words at all!

No it doesn't.
Some people just swear, that's the way it is.
There is a guy at work in his late twenties who swears all the time. He's probably one of the cleverest and most intelligent technical engineers I've come across in 40 years.

It says zero about your intelligence.

I heard a member of staff effing in Morrisons i told him kindly not to use language like that especially in store --i heard him again 20 mins later so i had a quiet word with a senior member of staff.
