Re: Swearing and rudeness in general

I am probably being sexist but to hear a woman swear makes me wince and cringe. It seems to take all their feminism away from them.

I think the majority of people let out a swear word now and again but not after every word.

I'm an F word user, my wife too. And we do it in the company of others that have an appreciation and the ability to do it in style.

(there's mention of the C word above ... no never)

I take it you mean FLIP there

I'm the same with Sugar or Shoot as being a great way of expressing ones displeasure especially when said with appropriate emphasis on the Shhhh.

Re: Swearing and rudeness in general

I once worked in advertising and my boss was a woman who occasional used the Bollox word as a one word response when things went wrong or someone was trying to pull the wool over her eyes.

Re: Swearing and rudeness in general

I am not so keen on people swearing a lot in general conversation, I really do not like the C word either (not Colin, the other one) either spoken or even in typed online conversation. If you have to constantly swear it indicates you vocabulary might be lacking a bit

I loathe swearing and vulgarity. There is absolutely no need for it. I do not use it myself, nor do I allow others to use it in my home and I will walk away from anyone who uses it other situations.

Re: Swearing and rudeness in general

I had a neighbour who swore like a trooper. Every other word was an F word. She never modified her language whatever the occasion and I have heard her swearing just the same to neighbours, teachers at her kids school, shop keepers etc.

She has a heart of gold though and I think she swears so much that she doesnt even realise she does it. Amazingly her four kids have all turned out lovely and I have never heard any of them swear. One son was my son’s best friend and he nearly lived at our house in his teens and he was a lovely lad. He is a restorer of specialist cars. Another son is a Manager of an engineering company, the daughter is a solicitor and the last son is an Area Manager.

her foul language definitely didnt rub off on her kids.

... funny isn't it? Gutter language some call it, yet the upper classes do it (with somewhat more grace).
