Children with no shoes on.

During this recent hot weather I have noticed many young children walking around on pavements, supermarkets, parks and garden centres with no shoes or socks on.

Considering all the crap you might find on the ground, dog poo, glass, stones, vomit etc it seems ridiculous to me. Plus it must be hot on their feet too.

I also see adults doing it but that's up to them, they have the choice.

Do you think this is bad parenting or am I just getting old?

Heat swells the feet so it's a toss up between blisters from rubbing shoes or stepping on something nasty.

My children were brought up in the tropics they did run around bare foot and could easily run across hot ground . The sole of the feet harden up.

When I was a child Id often walk around the streets barefooted, even going to secondary school I would often go barefoot

And there was a lot more dog poo about back then

I would never have permitted my children to walk around with no shoes on, it is asking for trouble.

Depends where the barefoot wandering is done.

At home, in your own garden might be safe enough but with all the rubbish on pavements now I'd never encourage anyone to wander barefoot. It's asking for trouble.

I always manage to step out of them.
