Mouldy painting

Arghhhh
My lovely Zebra painting that has been languishing in the garden shed for five years has got mould.

Yesterday we found the shed has been letting damp and water in due to a collapsed wall behind it .

Got stuff out found my zebra painting in a box un fortunately it's all gone mouldy .
I have wiped it off with weak bleach ( it's an acrylic painting )
To hopefully kill the spores .
But what next ?
I can I suppose paint over the mouldy bits
Any ideas?

Lovely painting Muddy, worth saving!
I would just wipe with a damp cloth, but then saying that, I threw some of mine away when I moved because they went mouldy in my shed. Only because I was short on time.

Painting horse pictures is so difficult and shows a great talent, so I hope you can save it Muddy.

Re: Mouldy painting

That's a beauty and worth any extra work to save!

Is this done in oils?

Have you tried hydrogen peroxide? It is especially good at working its way into porous surfaces.

Seems there is nothing else to do but get cracking on a few new paintings, Muddy. You talent and skills are a joy!

Thank you Surfermom and everyone else for your kind words.
It's acrylic .
I did it some six years back and have not done anything else since .

Re: Mouldy painting

You should have used baby wipes to clean it Muddy.
But in answer to your question, yes you can paint over it with acrylics.
