Home Guard, High Wycombe - Advice

Sorry, wasn't sure where to put this.

Does anyone know this company, or have had any work done by them? I attach a concern of a friend of mine who's considering having a new porch installed. Personally I'd give them a wide berth but would appreciate any advice to pass on. Thanks.

We have a good quote for a product I quite like but can find NO REVIEWS AT ALL on t'internet. The company is HOME GUARD LIMITED OF AYLESBURY BUT BUT BUT. Not only am I suspicious of the lack of reviews, the company registration number on the paperwork points to a company of the same name trading in High Wycombe which was created in January 2015, changed its name in March 2015 and has never filed any accounts. The website looks great, but I've created enough of those to know that means nothing. On the upside the guy brought a working window so we could see what we would get, they had plenty of hand written customer testimonials etc etc..
But they're pushing for a £1250 deposit on a £4995 quotation within 24hrs. I understand planning and cost savings involved as a Project Manager but prefer to check companies out thoroughly before committing. I have phoned FENSA and confirmed their registration but would prefer reviews. ANYBODY OUT THERE KNOW THEM PLEASE FROM AYLESBURY OR HIGH WYCOMBE.

Not much help forthcoming, but just wanted to say I find it odd these days to find no reviews of a company at all. Most companies have some internet precense even if it's bad.

Id steer clear ,you have done your homework and what you have found is not that promising .
Regarding reviews firms can easily write their own reviews , ive seen it on the net .
Id be more concerned of the change of name .

There's a HomeGuard up here in Yorkshire too - they `specialise` in replacement soffits, gutters and PVC windows. Don't know if they're affiliated with the High Wycombe or run as part of a franchise system but sad to say they didn't have a very good reputation.

Thanks for all the advice folks. Apparently said chap has now decided they're OK and is going with them. I wouldn't, but it's his choice.
