Statues

Hi

They are a big thing at the moment.

We have two here in Shrewsbury.

Charles Darwin and Clive of India, both locals.

They are part of our history.

I simply do not get what all the problem is.

To what end ? Will he be reviewing statues and street names with an eye to political correctness ? An eye toward Muslim correctness ?

Re: Statues

Changing street names and removing statues won't change what happened, it's part of our history, bad as it is. It shouldn't be forgotten but remembered as a lesson to how we once were. Too much gets swept under the carpet.

Re: Statues

I think statues make people aware of those in history, bad or good that shaped our history. If someone asks who they were and what they did surely that is important.

However, I think it's time we stopped wasting public funds on them and educated people about them in school or college.

Re: Statues

This is what happens when" foreigners" are put into power even though born in the UK. They have no pride in the countries past because they have no history of their own. No wonder racial hatred won't go away, and then they complain about it, yet people like this are the main cause

Can he just bugger about with them without asking the locals?
In a few years time nobody will know who he was, unless he errects a statue of himself.....
