Great feeling isn't it Spitfire! I finished mine early but had in total been working very hard and paying it for 38 years. Now though I've had 15 years not paying it, or having to pay any rent either, which would have been the case, had I not taken a mortgage out all that time ago.

Hope you enjoy that feeling for a very long time now, you've worked for it!

Well done spitty, we paid ours six years ago, it’s allowed me to take a different direction in my life, it’s comforting to know that while I may not be able to afford to put the lights or heating on, they can’t take my house away…😆

Well done, it's a great feeling, we thought about it for a while before taking a mortgage as the thought of owing thousands really scared me, but now so glad we did ,it's now paid off and as someone else said, no council rent to pay either. your house is yours now...

We managed to pay ours off some time ago, put the payment into pension subs. The next step in retire next year, 12 months early.
