Do you buy expensive items on credit?

Like an expensive phone or computer?

Argos keeps sending me come-ons about their Argos card but I don't see the advantage over buying an item outright.

I'm not talking about having a credit card and clearing it every month but dear items.

I usually buy large items on credit card, but I do clear it each month. I think it gives me a degree of safety if the transaction goes wrong, or if there is something faulty. If I can get interest free credit I will take it.

Hi

Absolutely not.

If I want something I pay for it, if I have not got enough cash I do not buy it.

It is far more satisfying to save for something, a sense of achievement and you value it more.

I am aim to get better, recover my health, go and see Guy on Taiwan, which I can afford.

I am saving for a trip to Madagascar, this will be expensive, as the Big Game boats are £700 a day, a trip of a lifetime though.

We have never bought anything on credit, apart from mortgages. If we couldn't afford something we did without or saved up until we could afford it.

I have a credit card which I got in case of emergency when I was going to visit my Auntie in America, I didn't use it as it happens. I don't like credit cards they are too easy to get yourself into debt with.

Re: Do you buy expensive items on credit?

Back in the day of high interest on savings, if we were offered interest free credit on a large purchase we took it, would have been foolish not to

Now everything is paid for as it's needed. Yes we use a credit card but it's paid off as soon as the bill comes in
