Re: Even a Green MEP feels Duped by the EU

That's what happens when countries turn their economies over to the EU.

No doubt the EU first held discussions with all the relevant parties concerned? Meetings have no doubt been held with business leaders in each of the 27 member states with regard to the effect the proposed minimum wage ordered by the EU will have on small businesses in each of the 27 other European member states?

No-one is saying that a minimum wage is not a good thing for workers. As long as the EU are not, as they are want to do, just shoehorning this directive through without first speaking to economists, small business leaders and other relevant parties in every member state first to assess the damage that could unwittingly be foisted on small businesses as a result of a decision taken carte blanche by the EU. I sincerely hope they awaited the replies and assessments from each of the member states before making such a decision. It doesn't affect the huge companies that the EU favours, but it could have a devastating effect on small businesses.

It would be interesting to find out.

They are all career politicians - none of them have recruited anyone or run a business. They have no idea what they are doing and what the effect will be on each countries economy.

You also have to factor in pensions and welfare payments, inflation and interest rates. I doubt "Dear Leader" has even thought about this.

When the minimum wage was introduced here people who were being paid above the minimum wage had wage cuts making them poorer and those who were below it got a wage rise, pushing them into higher PAYE tax brackets that caused them to lose out on subsidies and making them poorer - all sorts of crazy stuff. It will happen with the EU who will dictate how much people are paid in each country, then once done, they will dictate how much tax they will pay.

Here comes the EU magic money tree ...
Your using the same argument that was used here in the UK with regard to the minimum wage, and yet you come on here crowing how UK employment has rocketed.
As with most brexiters you don't know whether you are on your arse or your elbow.

Make your mind up!!!!!!

I am sure that the government of each member nation will discuss it and then come together democratically to decide whether or not it is made EU wide and to what level in each nation.

The EU is not a government but an amalgam of such. But then you don't want to know that.

A blatant LIE.

Ursula von der Layen did acknowledge that some members had opposed the nomination and not voted. A very narrow win says it all.

Critics were quick to point out that the incoming head of the EU executive won by the same margin as the Leave campaign during the 2016 EU referendum - when the result was 52 per cent to 48 per cent.
