I knew of a couple who married at a later age but lived apart. They said, it was for pension reasons.
We plan on doing pension splitting to save a bundle on taxes but don’t have to live apart

No matter how I would split up the living arrangements, I would still come home to find me in the house, so in my case, it doesn't much matter.
