Re: Des Res !

I must admit I am scared of Wasps, Bees, but I would not harm them.

I think all animals are fascinating to watch when they build their nests, especially spiders when they make their Web, its like pretty lace work.

As Muddy said - their sting is unforgettable - and they seem to do it for fun. Unlike bees - who will only sting in self defence.
Unfortunately I am allergic to stings from several creatures, wasps will sting for no reason, but bees as long as you are respectful won't. I have taken lots of photo's of bees over the years, but won't go near a wasp or their nests. Horse fly bites are the worst for me though.
Wasps nests are works of art, even if the creatures themselves have a nasty reputation.

Re: Des Res !

My friend emailed me this latest picture of the busy wasps - look how intricately they are building down the front of that bird box!

Nasty rather than evil, that word has religious meaning, I doubt wasps are religious.

I'm always surprised at how hard some insects work in their short lives. That wasp's nest is amazing!

I like bees, but, not wasps. They sting for no reason!
Their nests are works of art though.
Imagine what we could make by chewing up wood and spitting it out!

Yep, I agree with that, Tiff.

I would never hurt a bee, but I do not like wasps one bit.
I don't care what people say about the good they do, I think they are 'orrible little blighters.
