I can't recall any government of late that hasn't bleated about being short of money so it beggars belief what they waste money on (booze, posh takeaways (remember the £12 burger?) etc).

Total waste of money! We live in a Hi Tech age - if they must have portraits they can produce them digitally far more accurately and definitely cheaper than by having them painted. Some of those shown are truly awful!

You'd ask for the money back wouldn't you! They are all terrible. As you have said, what is wrong with just having a photo taken?

Such a waste of public money, imagine how many hip replacements or how many home helps could be provided with that money.

Well if I come face to face with one of them portraits, I shall scribble all over it - hip replacement = £ ..... portrait = £ ...... get the message !
