Re: Living Separately in a Marriage

You love someone but you don't want to live with them?
That's crazy.

Not really. I love my son to death, but if my house was the last building standing I still wouldn't...

Oh, sorry, for a moment I forgot we were talking about marriage here.

(Just kidding.
Sort of )

Re: Living Separately in a Marriage

I think I agree with Muddy. When you are young the love of each other is so strong that you are prepared to make adjustments to life so you can be together.
I have lived on my own for a few years, and have now decided that I don't want to live with another man, as I am not prepared to change things in my life to fit in with him. Maybe that means that I don't love or need a man as much as I did in my younger days.

Guess some folks just can't live in an institution.

Re: Living Separately in a Marriage

When you've been married for over forty five years and retired you tend to look at life from a totally different perspective....
Love each other? Of course we do, I would put my life on the line for Mrs Fox.....However.......We seem to be so different from each other these days and are constantly butting heads...

Sometimes you have to have a good hard look at yourself, and, be honest with your partner, and tell them "Its you not me".

Re: Living Separately in a Marriage

I love sharing my home and life with my husband and can't imagine it any other way.

Personally I don't know any married couple who live apart so can't comment how it works for them.

It seems an odd way to conduct a marriage. I.m not judging just commenting how I see it, probably because i.m happy living with my husband, i.d be devastated if he suggested we live apart, I love his company, if I want some me time I LL go out with friends but it's always nice to come home knowing he's there.

Re: Living Separately in a Marriage

I wouldn't see the point of being married if we didn't live together. Since I took early retirement in 2007, my wife and I have spent 24/7 together and it still doesn't seem enough!

Re: Living Separately in a Marriage

Mrs d00d and I sleep in separate rooms.

We start the night and finish the night in the same bed, but like a bit of space in the middle of the night.
