You might try this sight to get some more info on potatoes.

I prefer Majestics for Chips, Marie Piper for salads,Pentland Crown for Mashing and King Edwards for roasting.
If you use Accord again try starting them in cold water and bring it to a boil, just as it boils take them out and you should fid that they do not fall apart as easily.

I don't know if you can get Yukon Gold in the UK, but they are an excellent boiling potato.

Not really relevant now as the growing season is done and dusted, we are heavily into clearing up, BUT ..... have bought a steamer and WOW what a brilliant gadget that is.
Veg is far better and less 'floppy' and spuds are wonderful.
