Bright Weeds!

I remember someone referring to weeds in their garden as: "Flowers too, but without a College Education"!!

Re: Bright Weeds!

Weeds are a reflection on quite a lot of human society-not welcome but always around. Just cut them down before they seed and compost them

And it's said that cauliflower is cabbage with a college degree .....

Some "weeds" are really wildflowers that haven't been brought into cultivation.

Re: Bright Weeds!

I think wild chicory (do you have that?) is stunning with the lovely blue daisy-like flowers, but it's very leggy for the garden.. Wish hybridizers would being it to a more reasonable shape. And ruellia, a wildflower, is starting to show up in garden centres here: I have one. Most of our ornamentals were wildlings once.

Re: Bright Weeds!

Buttercups and daisies stay where they are in my garden, unless they're in the mower's way, they are a couple of my favourites.

Re: Bright Weeds!

I have had buttercups and field daisies in my yard, also wild violets; love those.
