Nope. He inserted a straw into the frog and blew to test the stress factor of skin. It seems frogs skin has a high stress factor so there was a lot of huffing and puffing before it was blown to wherever frogs are blown too.

Some lessons just stay with you even after all these years

Re: Mad Scientist

I am a believer in lifetime learning. I certainly know more now than I did as a kid. (surprise!) Considering my stated interest in the Sciences. Is it feasible that the amateur, enthusiastic learner of advanced age, could, with training, contribute to such studies? ( I have always been a learner by doing) Or is it all a bit late and too complex?

I noticed that too. As a kid I tried squeezing a frog, but he was very successfull in puffing himself up. I will add, that, I handled so many frogs in my youth, that now I find them repulsive and quite disgusting

Re: Mad Scientist

Quote Mr. Magoo.
Bertrand Russell neatly summarised the difference by pointing out that Aristotle had said the women have fewer teeth then men. He need only have asked Mrs Aristotle to open her mouth.

I think Mr. Aristotle may have been wiser than we think Mr. Magoo, it’s one thing asking a Woman to open her mouth, it’s quite another getting her to close it again, I’m sure Aristotle took this into consideration.

Re: Mad Scientist

Hi

Well I am a scientist, I quite like it, but must admit that I wish I could paint like Azure, play a musical instrument, take photos like Alan.

It is all about making the most of our opportunities, science is what I am best at, but I appreciate the arts in their many forms.

Science is easy, so is Maths, so simple, so logical.

My pretend Granddaughter is six tomorrow, for the last 18 months she has done the weekly ammonia, nitrite and nitrate tests on the aquarium, great fun for a youngster to add things in a tube and see them magically change colour.

I taught her to add up playing with sweets, she can do mental arithmetic as well, really easy for kids, if you start them young and make it fun they can understand things so easily.

We are currently making "volcanoes" with Actimel and effervescent vitamin C tablets.

I think that her mother will be in for a shock this weekend

Re: Mad Scientist

That's great Swimfeeder, to get children interested in maths and science at an early age is just the ticket.

Life is an adventure and it becomes an adventure when we try new things. From what you tell me here, it seems you are on the right track
