A. We are now allowed out more but we need to stay alert to the dangers whilst doing so.

How difficult is that?
I agree with Barry. The "alert" furor is just a load of people splitting hairs over the word, especially Keir Starmer. Most of us will carry on doing what we have been, it's just a glimmer of hope for the future months.

Not difficult at all Barry unless you are the BBC or some left-winger or other trying to stir the pot again.

If people don't understand what stay alert means, they should stay at home until they figure it out

Very good, but without spelling out in detail what the dangers are AND HOW TO RECOGNISE THEM - and what PARTICULAR precautions should be taken when encountering each one - it is as much use as a cracked glass eye.

"Stay alert" without spelling out details about what to be alert for is meaningless because of its ambiguity.

Stay at home is unambiguous.

If you really don't know what to be alert for, then you should probably ask someone....

Can't you really work that one out for yourself? Not been reading the papers?

The issue here Is that there is no indication of precisely what to be alert for and how to recognise it if it were present.

Can one see it? Smell it? Feel it? Hear it? In short how to recognise its presence

It's analogous to putting a sign on the entry of a containment vessel of an atomic reactor reading "hazardous area - remain alert" but no mention of the nature of the hazard or what would indicate the presence of an unsafe situation arising.
