Time to say goodbye, take a standard Free Trade Deal and move on.
If a Free Trade Deal is good enough for Canada, Japan and South Korea it should be good enough for us.
As regards the Irish Border, tough, we should not give in to blackmail.
We can and should explain to Ireland that if they continue to reject our proposals they will end up with a hard border and the end of the common travel area.

Second, I think that that article is pretty accurate having listened to and read a variety of different analyses on the matter.
Even if May were suddenly to quit for, er, "health reasons" (as Wilson did in 1976), there is no easy fix available. A referendum would take 22 weeks to happen after it have been voted into law by parliament after the rules for it had been agreed, which would mean extending the date of potential departure. Even the questions on it would be hard to agree as there'd have to be more than 2, which would mean it'd be complex to determine and agree what a "majority" vote would be.
Regardless of all of this, and as an aside, for Macron to call certain Brexiteers "liars" is not right. Perhaps naively, I believe that those involved on all sides of the argument are not acting entirely for their own personal gain (which is what the term "liar" implies), but do have what they feel is in the best interest of the country.
