No.

You cannot practice football. You can, however, practise football or do some football practice.

You cannot practice parking either. You can, however, practise parking or do some parking practice.

You'll be pleased to hear that you can certainly practise colouring in!

I know. I contributed to that thread confirming that it is also my experience that many teachers are unable to spell correctly.

I went one step further and cited an example of a specialist English language inspector who used Americanisms in his PowerPoint presentation!

What hope for us?

Re: Whats wrong with taking up two spaces?

I have been shopping this morning later than my usual time of 8am because I had to go to the bank which doesn't open till 10am these days .

I parked between spaces/white lines I had no option, every car in the row had done the same prompted no doubt by one initially badly parked car or van.

Did I feel guilty or have a panic attack no I just got on with the shopping

So when you criticise parking methods remember it may have been due to one person parking badly not subsequent parkers

Do your football practice.
The practice is a noun in this instance.
Try putting THE before it, it's a noun.

Practise your colouring in...See post54...Verb. To practise colouring in.

I took my ex-wife's Grandpa to Heathrow to get a flight....sat in a 5 mile tail-back....he said in his best squadron leader's voice "Terry, no matter the length of the queue. ..there's always some bastid at the front"

Re: Whats wrong with taking up two spaces?

A few years ago I parked in a pay and display car park. An old lady of about 90 drove in, crunching her gears and revving the engine, and proceeded to park diagonally across two spaces.

I thought I'd better warn her that the previous week a woman had written to the local paper complaining that she had received a parking fine for parking over the lines and into a second space.

I said "I think you'll find you will get a fine parking there because you are taking up two spaces." She just smiled and very politely asked me if I would go and get her TWO tickets from the machine in that case. I did.

Exactly Julie "walk a mile in someone else's shoes before you judge a man" comes to mind

I will have to correct the spelling, though.
Perhaps it's the "Australian" way to spell it

Who would have thought it that parking badly and spelling could take up 8 pages and so many words ?

Oh, but it's a very emotive subject.
