she doesn't wear a collar UJ, I use some expensive stuff on her that works a treat so I know it's not come from her, I've a suspicion it's Mr Ginger from over the road who comes across begging for food everyday cos he knows I'm a pushover

Cats are very intuitive and know who is and who is not a 'cat person'. I too love pussy cats, but regrettably I'm not allowed a pet here, partly because my tenancy agreement says so, but partly because I'm asthmatic.

that's a shame UJ, a pet can be great company, I'd never be without my pussy!

It isn't not as thought other parts of my body are not available for biting including the left side of my nose.

I now have a permanent itch on the side of my nose

Get a bottle of Aeroguard and no insect will come near you let alone bite you.

Re: Insect bites

Citronella oil repels most flying insects.

The only time I have ever been bitten was last summer - by a spider in my garage. But that was my own fault - I had disturbed her web which was full of egg pods!

It really hurt and I felt quite sick for a couple of days.

Re: Insect bites

Sometimes I wonder if a person is on certain medications, insects may not bite them as much. Perhaps it could work the other way too.

That is an interesting thought, Autumn, worth researching I would think.

Re: Insect bites

I walk a lot in the countryside, and get bitten a lot around the ankles, even when wearing jeans tucked in my socks, or with proper gaiters that protect against ticks. Must be something very small getting in. I find Eurax ointment very effective in reducing the itching, but sometimes the swellings take ages to reduce.
