Re: Vimto the drink of choice.

Vimto was made a few streets away from me in Preston, when I was a child in the late 1950's. The makers were a company called Ellis Wilkinson. They used to give away small booklets as an advertising ploy aimed at kids containing some interesting facts and puzzles and stuff, called unsurprisingly a Vimto Book.
I still have one today.
I loved the stuff, but have not tasted it in years.

It's not as nice now Malcolm, they've spoiled it, like Cadbury spoiled their chocolate.

Re: Vimto the drink of choice.

Since 2003 a company called 'Cott Beverages' became the Manufacturer and supplier of Vimto. As a self employed courier a lot of my work came from Cott Beverages and I would deliver samples the length and breadth of the UK. They also manufacture Cola for Tesco, Sainsburys and Morrisons, and a few others. They were one of my favourite customers and provided me with quite a few years of interesting well paid long distance jobs. Vimto is a bit too sweet for me though.

Re: Vimto the drink of choice.

I don't like these bottled drinks along the lines of Vimto and Coke etc etc

I think the furthest I got to them was as a kid we occasionally had Dandelion and Burdock.

Never entered my head to buy them for my daughter when she was growing up. It was either apple juice or water or orange squash.

She drinks those bottle drinks now though....including the alcoholic ones

Re: Vimto the drink of choice.

Yep another great weapon in the "war on human health".

Vimto has over 2 full teaspoons of body screwing, mind screwing addictive sugar in every 100ml of product. So a standard 330ml can of Vimto fizzy has just over 7 teaspoons of sugar in it.
