When I smoked I owned ashtrays but not floor standing however my first wife used to complain that I used the carpet as an ashtray. I gave up smoking in the early 1980s but fairly recently I came a cross a large glass ashtray lurking at the back of a cupboard.

When l still lived at home, someone gave me one of those knitted toilet roll covers and my mother used it in the bathroom.We also had an electric fire with a red lamp in it to give a flame/warmth affect. None of the others listed.
The worst things my mother used to collect were the plastic flowers ?roses or were they tulips? that you got free with Daz or Omo?
I wonder if that’s why l can’t bear or ever have artificial flowers in my home?
