That's why we have politicians in parliament, to weigh effects of animal welfare, economic distribution, ecological conservation against one another. We simple souls wait till there is a decision.

You could have fooled me?
I thought their function was a god given right to oppose every
single thing,( good or bad) that the opposite party proposes and
to reverse everything if they manage to gain power?Hence the
apparrent stagnation of uk over the last 50yrs!!

As you have pointed out before, that is the apparent drawback of the british parliamentary system.
We have many more parties in parliament. We have a party committed for rights of people over 50, a party for the animals (no, not for right wing extremists). A communist party and a forum for democracy.
It's reasonably common that opposition votes with government and vice versa. That's democracy in action.

Sounds like heaven Solly? But! can you explain how if eu citizens
decide they dont want to become soldiers in a federal army they
can express that wish?
Do they have to rely on the diluted votes of their meps in eubparli?
