Pamelada

My Mum used to tell me the story of Pamelada, a little boy who was sent on errands by his mother and kept getting it wrong. Eg. he was sent for butter and put it under his hat so it melted etc. Does anyone know this story? I know there's an American version, it may be Welsh as my maternal grandmother was Welsh.

Re: Pamelada

The name is familiar and so is the story. Mum wasn't one much for telling stories but I fancy they were a series of books like the Little Black Sambo ones.

Sorry Twizzle, I've never heard of it. My mum used to tell me lots of stories but that's one I have never come across. If you do find it, I'd be interested to read it.

Re: Pamelada

I don't remember that name Pamelada but definitely remember the story.
He puts a puppy in his pocket and it suffocates !

That still haunts me to this day

I think he then drags a piece of meat on a length of string along behind him.
Don't know the ending of the story and don't understand the purpose of it

Re: Pamelada

I found an American version called Epaminondas which sounds similar. maybe my Gran used a made -up name.

Maybe that was the one I was thinking of because that name is very familiar.
