Toys for young children please?

My grandsons are 3 & 5. They have lots of toys like cuddly animals, plastic cars and some building blocks, but I would like to get them something that needs a bit more thought or imagination; in other words, that will keep them occupied for longer!

I was thinking of Lego, Duplo, or Jenga

Do you think they're too young for that?
Or have you any other suggestions please?

No. Not too young at all, anything that will stretch the imagination, as long as it's age appropriate.

Orchard Games are really good for different age groups.
https://www.orchardtoys.com/

Boys as much as girls like pretend play with tea sets and shopping too.
Paints and crayons
Playdough (Argos)
Maybe a spot of baking if you feel brave enough !
Duplo yes, but lego is possibly too old. You would end up doing it and they would wander off
Tents or a den made out of granny's old sheets and clothes maiden.. you know the idea.
Cardboard boxes, they can pretend it's a boat or car or a bus.
Shopkeepers till .

Pretend play is really important.

Only going on what my granddaughters have been engaged with at similar ages.
Good luck .

Lego Duplos (the ones for little hands) are fantastic! The first thing my little boy did every morning was race to his Duplo sets.

If you want to go a little extra, there are tables that make a perfect pairing with the blocks - some even have storage compartments.

There are also beginner train and truck sets.

If you buy any sets that don't come with containers, I can't recommend enough what a good idea it is to buy a storage bin for them.

Especially to save unfortunate epithets form the parents when they tread on them

Of course they are not too young for Lego, mine had it from about 18 months old, as did our daughters. I haven't heard of Duplo and Jenga.

Most children will always welcome a new colouring book and coloured pencils.
