Dangers of using mobile phones while driving

For those who haven't got the message that hand-holding a mobile phone while driving is dangerous I would suggest they look at this.

I remember this horrific crash that happened in 2015, a mother and her two children were killed alongside the daughter of her boyfriend. Two families totally devastated by one careless and dangerous act by a driver who was scrolling through a music play-list on his phone.

We have hands free via Bluetooth built into the car computer.
I never use it, and I ignore my phone if I am driving. Crazy that some people are still risking their own and others lives!!!!!
I have seen them!!!!

That was here, where I live.

The A34 is notorious for accidents at the best of times, even when you're paying full attention.

And this bloke has the cheek to appeal his sentence?

My phone is kept in my handbag and hardly ever used. If I needed to use it when I was driving, I would stop the car first.

It's illegal. Don't they know that?

Re: Dangers of using mobile phones while driving

When you see someone on their mobile in the street, they constantly pace about, walking round in circles. Something about talking to another person who isn't next to them that causes this spacial unawareness. I believe hands-free is still dangerous in cars and there is no excuse for that behaviour of having a mobile next to your ear whilst driving.

One of my pet hates. If ever I'm out and I have to take a phone call, I'll look for a quiet doorway to stand in or I'll sit down if possible.

And don't get me started on people who are glued to their phone, earphones in, whilst walking along the street, head bowed down. It should be against the law. I wonder how many have been killed.

Re: Dangers of using mobile phones while driving

Can anyone under say 35 really function without having their phone pinned to their ear? I'm not sure they would know what to do without instructions from fellow users.

I see so many park outside my house who are either already on the phone or use it the second they stop.

There is one young man who walks past, has probably gone past a hundred times but I have never seen him not on his phone. I really would love to know what is so important.

I quite agree; I think social media is to blame for much of it. I rarely use my phone outside but I do listen to music, this isn't so loud that I'm unaware of other people or traffic. My phone remains in my front pocket.

It's terrible watching that footage. One thing that concerns me at the moment is all the new electronic gadgets appearing in cars. I don't mean the safety feature but the social media connections, touch screen stereos etc.
