Yep, although it was a long time ago! When I was 21, I went for a job with the Civil Service, and when they discovered I was engaged, they told me it wasn't really a job for an engaged young lady!
I was so astonished, I just stared at them dumbstruck!

(Anyway, although I didn't get one of the places on the first sifting, they must have changed their minds, because I got a place on the second sifting. Just as well, as the engagement broke up later! )

More when I was younger when I was often asked about family plans and was turned down several times being of child bearing age.
It's not as bad these days but I am finding age discrimination is now hitting me a bit as I have been too old for a job recently !

Take heart by that 88-year-old lady on the news this morning who won a case against the NHS for age discrimination.

I once went to have a copper7 contraceptive coil fitted.
They wanted my husband's signature for consent.
I told them where to put that idea!!
