So sad.
One thing I do know and advise others not to do, is never enter a cow field if you have a dog with you. The cows will almost always come after the dog, even more dangerous if they have calves with them.
I thought there were by-laws about not putting cattle in fields that had public footpaths across them, but I may be wrong about this.
There are cows in the back field where two footpaths cross behind my house .
They are beautiful and incredibly unafraid they are not nervous at all.And they are big and they have calves which are also quite large .
Cows are very curious .
I do cross with my dog but I and him are very careful
He is a border collie and is quite wary of them he takes the long run around - as sheep dogs do -his eyes never leave them .
( He is very good with stock and never bothers farm animals )
The main thing is that you must have a dog that is obedient and doesn’t harass animals at all and you must if cows chase your dog let it run free .
It will outrun them you will not .
