Crunch week???

Is this going to be crunch week for brexit talks?
Signs so far are that it is likely to be if the pre talks talk is anything to go by? For once we are speaking out and sending clear messages
to eu on our intentions!!
With luck we may be free by july, and not only on paper??

Donkeyman! 😂😂

I hope so, DM.

For one, its gone on long enough and for another, the EU refuse to talk about trade so are wasting everyones time.

Hi

Life has changed.

Everyone is focused on protecting their own economies, not free trade.

The chances of a deal are zero, with the EU or anyone else.

No so, Swimmy.

Deals with countries where it benefits both are still worth pursuing. For example, USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, India etc.

The problem with the EU is that they do not have much to offer and what they do is bundled with bureaucracy and regulatory nonsense that we can't accept (as they are finding out). No other country in the world has to accept their conditions for a free trade arrangement, but for some reason, we do.

Once the COVID-19 cases go down, economies will need to recover and to do that, they need to trade.

Hi

Well as usual, one of us is right and one of us is wrong.

We will just have to wait and see.

Britain will find US trade talks ‘tougher than first assumed’
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/b...umed-f668s7bjw

Even if these hurdles are overcome, the gains may be modest. The Department for International Trade's own analysis suggests that Britain's economy would be just 0.16% - or £3.4bn - bigger in 15 years - if all tariffs with the US are eliminated. And that scenario goes beyond the UK's objectives; in reality, the boost could be even smaller.https://www.bbc.com/news/business-52545678

Hi

Trump has said that he will not do any Trade Deals unless they favour the USA.

Any Trade Deal he propses with the Uk will have to be agreed by Congress.

He is in a minority there.

President Trump is unlikely to back down on this as he tries to woo voters ahead of an election in country where one in six workers have filed for unemployment benefits in recent weeks.

Nobody in their right mind would do any trade deal if it wasn't in their favour. What kind of statement is that ????
