The NZ travel bubble has reopened for people from Victoria, SA, ACT and Tasmania. Queensland announced it had three cases of the Alpha strain today whereas NSW has 36 cases of the Delta strain. So Queenland is looking good, NSW less so - whether Sydney, Blue Mountains and parts of the Illawarracome out of lockdown this coming weekend is not clear.

NSW not making much progress getting rid of this Delta strain, 38 cases today, 11 in the community while infectious.

40 cases in hospital, 11 in ICU including 1 under 35yo, 10 under 55, 3 are on ventilators.

The outbreak started in the eastern suburbs of Sydney but is now concentrated in the western LGAs of Liverpool, Canterbury - Bankstown and Fairfield

From 5:00pm today in Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour:

Outdoor public gatherings will be limited to two people (excluding members of the same household);

People must stay in their Local Government Area or within 10kms of home for exercise and outdoor recreation, with no carpooling between non-household members;

Browsing in shops is prohibited, plus only one person per household, per day may leave the home for shopping;

From Sunday, the number of mourners at funerals will be capped at 10.

Sadly a 91yo lady died of Covid in NSW in the last 24 hours, she was not vaccinated, There are 47 people in NSW hospitals, 16 in ICU half of those in ICU are under 50 including one teenager.

No one who has been vaccinated is in hospital. It graphically illustrates the failure of the Federal Government to meet any vaccination targets they set for themselves or to secure enough vaccine. Useless mob of no hopers.

112 cases in NSW today, this Delta variant is proving very hard to dislodge, The lockdown is scheduled to end Friday but I wouldn't be surprised if we are still in lockdown in a month's time.

Victoria has closed its border to the whole of NSW and ACT.
