A new source of nutrician!

Our fig tree, planted only last year is now providing us with about 6-8 figs a day. They are small but delicious and can be eaten skin and all!

How lovely the figs we buy here are seldom very nice...
Like a lot of fruit they are picked too early to allow for ripening during travel .

Re: A new source of nutrician!

Lucky you Ciderman.

One of my regrets is that when I bought this house there was an established fig tree producing lovely fruit but I had to remove it to access my new car port.

I also had a terrific mandarin and equally good orange tree which had fantastic sweet fruit but had to go to build an extension.

This time I moved them to the bottom of the garden where they recovered but produced inedible fruit from that time on after a decade or so I gave up and removed them too. Now I have one lemon tree and a massive cumquat tree both of which produce more fruit than I can use. (they say if you have to buy lemons you've got no friends)
