Pakistan grounds ALL pakistan pilots!!

RT telivision reports that Pakistan authorities have grounded all
Pakistan pilots due to licence scandal??
The scandal came to light after a pakistani airliner crashed
into houses recently whilst attempting to land in pakistan!!
Doubts have now been cast on the validity of the pilots licence?
Just what the airline industry needs at this time l should think?

Is anyone really surprised? Modern planes like the airbus can be programmed from the departure stand pretty much to the arrival stand with most everything in-between handled by on board computers. REALLY. It's the same with driving licences in the UK and even junior doctors still.

The whole rotten country is corrupt as are most of its exports to the UK.

Re: Pakistan grounds ALL pakistan pilots!!

Apparently, it's not all of its' pilots:

Pakistan International Airlines grounds 150 pilots over "bogus" licenses after deadly crash

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/pakista...-8303-karachi/

PIA spokesman Abdullah Hafeez Khan told AFP that a government probe last year had found about 150 of its 434 pilots were carrying "either bogus or suspicious licences". "We have decided to ground those 150 pilots with bogus licences with immediate effect," he said.

Details of the government probe were made public Wednesday when Pakistan's aviation minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan told parliament the review found more than 260 of the country's 860 active pilots had fake licenses or had cheated on exams.
That's still jaw-dropping, though .....

If they neglected to put the landing gear down, they ignored a basic landing check list. Lazy and complacent.

The worrying part is the way that statement is worded, saying they found last year 150 of it's pilots having bogus or suspicious licences but then it goes on to say that they have ground those pilots with immediate effect.

That tells me that those pilots were being allowed to fly with the authorities full knowledge that they should not be flying and it's only due to the recent crash that has forced them to act. Corrupt to the core

There used to be a standing joke about the number of Nigerian aircraft that used to arrive in London with only one flight crew rather than the statutory two.

A formal complaint and warning resulted in still just one man on the flight deck but with a border collie for company.

When asked to explain the Niggerian government spokesperson explained that the dog was in charge of flying the plane and the job of the first officer was to feed the dog!

Whilst it is true that the planes can fly themselves Todgy, it is also
true that the pilot has to have a complete understanding of how
the aircraft and its systems operate and interlock isnt it??
That a pilot tries to land without putting the wheels down leaves
a lot to be desired imo??
You could even end up in the wrong country if you were lucky??

The flight crew certainly should however unless something fails if the flightplan was correctly programmed in in the case of a modern (leased!) Airbus the flight crew would require to do little more than follow a check list and then steer the beast to the live runway threshold. From that point everything could be done by the border collie even up to finals and landing.

Then follow the checklist and steer it to the gate. One of my few remaining mates only recently retired from driving these things and maintained that the safest phase of any modern flight was when the flight crew had fallen asleep which apparently is not uncommon on long haul!

Re: Pakistan grounds ALL pakistan pilots!!

I honestly don't believe a modern aircraft would land without the lowering of landing gear.

It makes absolutely no sense at all.
