Re: Last Tango in Halifax

I really enjoyed it when it began but, like so many other popular series, it went straight down silly street and the scripts seemed to be contrived and feeble.

Reviving/reworking things never really works. They tried it with 'Open all hours' and 'Last of the Summer Wine', and the remakes were rubbish.

Re: Last Tango in Halifax

I noticed on the trailer for it they used my local supermarket for some of the scenes.....there you go just a bit of useless information

That's the Supermarket I took refuge in when I was chased by the mad white van man....even more useless info

Sounds scary!!

Ditto, re how series tend to go down silly street after one or 2 series

I agree. The writers always feel they need to 'move on' whereas what we really want is more of the same. That's why we liked it in the first place.

Not bad. I think it has lost something from the original and they have turned Celia into a battle axe.

It's on BBC iplayer if you want to catch up.

We watched it but weren't that impressed, but isn't it ever thus with sequels of sequels? The quality can only deteriorate as the writers run out of ideas...

Just getting into this - season one! Brilliant so far and have ignored all spoilers on the thread! Five seasons should be enough escapism to get from winter to spring !
