Horrible ibs-d

I am loathe to bring this up in so public a place but I am desperate. I have what my gastro Dr says is "probably" IBS-D for the last 9 years. With every passing year it gets worse. My gastroenterologist has done every imaginable test and he is stumped. It has nearly ruined any remaining life I have.

I would appreciate it if anyone has discovered anything that helps could share it with me. If you do not wish to share on this forum, please, please send me a private message.

Thank you

Bakerman not sure whether you still have me on ignore, but have you tried giving up gluten? Gluten can cause chronic IBS type symptoms that get worse over the years. I would say whatever you have is either that or possibly a hystamine issue where you should try a low histamine diet. Drs are in general very ignorant of either condition but particularly ignorant of high histamine foods and how they affect the gut in individuals that are affected.

If you've had this for 9 years, I'd suggest finding the best gastroenterology centers in the country and checking yourself in for every diagnostic test in the book. Something makes me think that you may have been misdiagnosed.

I don't know if I have been misdiagnosed or not. My gastro specialist, whom I like and respect, has told me, when I asked him to make an educated guess, said, "My best guess would be IBS-D". He has done 2 colonoscopies over the last 5 years, 1 tube/camera into the stomach, and 1 electronic camera, which I swallowed, all turned up negative. The later took pictures of my entire digestive system.
He has also checked for C Diff, H Bacter, and a host of other things like parasites. Again all negative.
PS: no medicines which he has prescribed has had the slightest impact on my problem.
After reading your post, I sent in a request for appt at San Diego University Medical center Gastro division

Histamines are a new idea to me. I am looking into it now. Thank you
