Purchasing & questions

I'm thinking of buying an electric drill - well a rotary multitool actually

I've found one I would like on Machine Mart's website, and there is a promotion on at the moment - 16% off, if you quote a code number

I suspect they will use this and also ask for my details like name, address, email, and use this to send me junk mail & emails. I had that trouble with Screwfix

Now, what I want to know is this ; if I refuse to give them my details can they then refuse to sell me the item?
Or can I insist on a traditional purchase - I give them cash, and they hand over the goods & a receipt, without my telling them anything else?

I always understood that if an item was offered for sale the seller could not refuse to sell it, apart from obvious rules about age, booze, etc.

Re: Purchasing & questions

there is usually a checkbox, within the check out procedure to decline promotional material.

Was about to say the same, just check the box says no promotional material and don't sell my details.

Re: Purchasing & questions

Putting something up for sale is only 'an offer to trade' in law. Either buyer or seller can pull out at any time.

Re: Purchasing & questions

I only get one Email a month from Machine Mart which isn't really a nuisance
