In a fury ! (rant alert)
I am totally disgusted with our City Council. Have just received not only a third electoral register form but also a rude notice saying that I will be fined a £1,000 if I do not return it with 14 days! The note says someone called to discuss the form but had no reply. I was here - have been here all morning - said person did not even knock - just shoved the form and the rude note through the letter box.Am sending the form back with the following note attached:-
"Electoral Services
York City Council
Sirs,
The enclosed is the THIRD form I have completed and returned to you this year!
People fought and died to give me the right to vote – I take that responsibility very seriously and object to being threatened with fines for non-compliance. I cannot be held accountable for the vagaries of our postal system.
Yours sincerely, "
That'll learn 'em!! If it doesn't I'll send the cats round.

The trouble is, you will never get anywhere with these people because most of them have their brain removed when joining local government. It's not how it used to be when people could think for themselves and have a bit of common sense. Councils now are run by the first generation of idiots.
