Living Separately in a Marriage

I've just been reading in a magazine about this couple who are married with children but yet don't live together. They each have their own house.

They are going on holiday together and even staying in seperate hotels

Personally I wouldn't like that, I love the fact we live together even if we do drive each other nuts at times.

Toyah Wilcox and her husband have been married 30 years and they live separately, also Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband are the same.

Would you want to live apart from your husband/wife/partner or do you like the arrangement of living together.

Re: Living Separately in a Marriage

I have friends like that. She lives in the house in the week as it's near her work and then goes to see him at weekends. They also holiday together. They seem very much in love. She married late, aged 50, so maybe that makes it hard to give up your independence.

Perhaps it keeps the romance alive as you get older?

I know a couple who live like that but ‘seem’ to have a good relationship.

It wouldn't suit me to be living apart.

It makes me think 'Why bother getting married?'
