So true.


And the cod liver oil from the chip shop,
Where the newspaper came in half sheets,
And the mangle to squeeze all the water
from the washing on Mondays at least.

The tea that we poured with a strainer,
And the Sunday night bath was a steam ,
Then down by the fire with the radio on ,
Top of the Form. Sing Something Simple ,Steptoe and Son !

I seem to recall on Sunday evenings it was 'Take it from here' with Jimmy Edwards.
