Dangerous ... you are not the first person today to mention that. But dangerous in what sense? I've never felt in danger here. It's THE big city but not as dangerous as many other UK towns & cities. Plus, if one schoolboy knifes another, the terrorist squad in their choppers are on it in minutes. Violent crime is taken seriously and, unfair I know, London has a bottomless pit of £ to deal with it pronto.

Dirty, again London is way down the list of the UK's dirtiest in terms of both rubbished dumped and air pollution. Or did you mean something else, with a capital D? Dirty money or something?

Overcrowded ... bound to be, everyone wants to be here.

Not English or even British any more ... we're talking world capital not some backward village in the sticks.

Re: London Centric?

Look at the EU and Brussels, which is the capital of the EU and full of comings and goings all the time. Like it or not is is a very important city and goes beyond it's brief as simply the capital of Belgium. But it's a city of several hundred thousand less people (1.2 million pop) than Adelaide which is our smallest mainland state capital. Not a large city then by any world standard. I still think Oxford, Canterbury or Edinburgh would be ideal as choices for a national capital. They are beautiful places and a lot easier to navigate.

Not Edinburgh. It is an SNP stronghold. No sooner would it become the capital than the Scots would vote for independence!

Bring back York as the nation's capital as it was in days gone by.

Lovely city but too far from France. Also has a terrible one-way traffic system.

Re: London Centric?

Reading Berks, nice place really, some unfortunate concrete, but give it city status, a makeover and it'll make a good UK capital. Good road & rail (crossrail) links to London & LHR, build more luxury residences along the river on pastures heading up Henley way to accommodate world diplomats, they'll have a ball.
