Re: Policing in the 1970’s
The first thing that springs to mind is Police were always around. Walking the usual beat, almost always alone which these days can be far more risky. Rarely if ever a female police officer and kids had far more respect for a scary, usually six foot copper. Is it a sign of old age when I say most of today's police officers appear a lot shorter, a lot younger and even wear specs. I failed my police entrance medical back then because I am colourblind. I was gutted.Re: Policing in the 1970’s

The Irony was Marky at the time I had the medical which found I was colourblind, I was a qualified TV engineer and a great many tv components were colour coded..resistors etc... I must say I certainly would not want to be in the Met Police these days or any other big city force.Re: Policing in the 1970’s
